Gion - 1 Viewing Gion, the ever famed red light district, known for it's beautiful entertainers, called geisha (or geiko, as they prefer to be called), and it's impeccable tea houses and okiyas. At night, lanterns adorn the street, bathing the district in a soft glow. Though with current events, it is often dangerous to roam the streets alone at night.
